St. Michael’s is a smaller than average Junior school in Twerton, a suburb of the city of Bath, situated to the west of the city and home to the city’s football club. The school converted to academy status in April 2018 joining the Bath & Wells Multi - Academy Trust.
We serve families from a wide variety of socio-economic backgrounds. The majority of pupils are of White British heritage with a high proportion of pupils identified as disadvantaged and therefore eligible for pupil premium funding. Twerton is an area of very significant deprivation in relation to national indicators and has a significantly higher than average percentage of pupils with special educational needs and / or disabilities. The school is organised into 5 classes with one mixed age class (Y5/6).
At St. Michael’s, we support our children with their personal development and growth and strive to ensure that they become confident, lifelong learners. We create a safe, loving, caring and nurturing environment that promotes our Christian values. We want our children to develop a strong sense of Christianity and prepare them for the next stage in their educational journey. Our Golden Rules are linked to our Christian Values and the justice our rules provide help us to demonstrate and develop compassion, reverence and love.
St Michael’s Church Junior School sits on a large site with extensive outside facilities including a fort, forest and new climbing frame. We have a fully functioning computer suite and a developing library. iPads are widely available to enhance children’s learning. We learn mastery in maths, are Timestables Rockstars and use Talk for Writing across the school. We also use an app called MarvellousMe to communicate with our parents.
From our four proud houses of children and staff to our Equalities team, we believe together we can.
