Our School Chaplain Gwen, also on the staff team at St Michael’s Church, is based in the Sanctuary and is here to serve all members of our school community, staff, children and parents. Please feel free to contact her through the school office. She is happy to lend a listening ear and provide practical help where possible.
As well as planning and leading some of our worships each week, Gwen organises events and activities for the staff and children to explore how being part of a Church School equips us for ‘Life, life in all its fullness’. In ‘normal times’ we have regular ‘Prayer Spaces’ with practical activities to help children reflect/ pray and ask big questions about God, the world and life in general. During the past year children have been given opportunities to take part in similar activities during ours Thursday worship slot and children have used a variety of resources such as playdoh, wool, paper, music, the outdoors and silence to help them do this.
Gwen instigated an on-going project to make a Quiet Space for staff and children to access for quiet/reflection. Children have planted bulbs as a sign of Hope as we come into Spring.
Weekly ‘Hot Chocolate and biscuits for 50p’ at breaktime is a way of enjoying a treat and with it brings an opportunity for our children to share some of their money with Charities, this helps us remember our sense of Community and Compassion towards others.
